Terms & Conditions

Definitions
The following expressions have the following meanings:
"I", "me" , "my" and "I am", refers to Sophie Matthews, EssexMakeup.
''Client'' refers to the person or persons responsible for making the booking and or any members of their party.

 

Clients Responsibility


Skin allergies -
It is the clients’ responsibility to inform me of any known allergies or skin sensitivities that they or their group may have and / or may be affected by the use of my tools or products, and if so a consultation is highly recommended.

I will not be held responsible for any reactions that may occur if any skin conditions were not stated before the application of make up.

Photography
It is imperative that I continue to update my portfolio for future prospective clients. Please let me know in advance if you do not wish to be photographed or if you are not happy for me to use your images for marketing purposes, websites and social media pages.

Liability
Sophie Matthews, EssexMakeup is not liable for any suppliers that are recommended.
I am covered by Public Liability Insurance with Direct Line Professional Beauty policy.

Deposits
To reserve your date a non-refundable and non-transferable deposit of 25% is required upon booking, without the deposit your date will not be reserved.

Booking confirmations will only be sent once all deposits have been paid for in full. Once booking confirmation has been issued your date is secure.   

After the deposit has been paid, confirmed numbers may be increased at my discretion (pending timings). If the numbers are reduced the confirmed total may still be charged. 

All deposits are automatically deducted from the final balance.  Accepted methods of payment: BACS transfer.

After the trial has taken place the client has a one week cooling off period to confirm the booking, beyond this point the deposit is non-refundable.

For bookings made within less than 4 weeks prior to the wedding date without a trial, the final balance will be due immediately upon booking to confirm and secure your wedding date.

Payment of the deposit confirms that you agree to the full terms and conditions for the services provided by Sophie Matthews, EssexMakeup.

Trial
Trials take place at the clients chosen location, travel costs may apply depending on the location. 

Please note that if you require a second trial you will be required to pay the full trial amount again.

For bookings made within less than 4 weeks prior to the wedding date without a trial; the final balance will be due immediately upon booking to confirm and secure your wedding date.

Failure to pay the fee within the stated time may result in the wedding date being released to another client.

The price agreed at the time of confirming the booking is final. If Sophie Matthews, EssexMakeup price list changes at all, your booking will not be affected.

All discounts are agreed at the time of booking based on the size of the booking. If the number or party changes any discounts will no longer be applicable and full current pricing will be charged.

It is the responsibility of the named person (usually the bride) on the booking form to read and accept responsibility for all booking conditions and payments due.  By proceeding to secure a booking by paying a deposit you accept that you are entering into a contract with Sophie Matthews, EssexMakeup. 

 

Travel Charges
Travel expenses will be applied and added to the final balance.

All travel expenses are to covered by the client. This includes return journey charges.

As I always travel with an extensive makeup kit, all London appointments will be charged accordingly as quoted using a Taxi app.

Changes
Notification should be given of any changes to the booking and trial as soon as possible. This includes changes to the number of clients, location, dates and times. It is the client’s responsibility to do this, as I cannot guarantee availability for changes previously agreed.

Changes must be confirmed in writing via e-mail or in person and are not accepted as written notice until you have received a reply.
Any changes made to a trial must be made no less than 24 hours before the date of the trial. If changes result in the number attending being reduced, I have the right to change the time or date of the trial and any previous booking discounts or travel discounts may be void.

Please note that if a wedding booking is changed which results in the number of clients dropping below the confirmed numbers, the confirmed total will still be charged.
If part of a booking is changed / cancelled less than 4 weeks prior to the wedding date, the balance will still be required in full.
Please ensure that your bridesmaids and any other client requiring make up services are 100% confirmed in order to avoid any disappointment.

Please note: Any discounts will only apply at the time of booking and will not be applied to any changes made after this time.

Please inform us of any changes in order to confirm new costs.

 

Cancellation


Cancellation of the booking by the client:
Any payments that have been made will not be refunded. Should you need to cancel any appointment please contact me as soon as possible.

The client can cancel a trial at any point, however a trial cancelled with less than 24 hours notice will be charged for at the agreed rate.

If for any reason the client wishes to cancel the wedding booking, it must be done in writing no less than 4 weeks before the wedding. If notice is given after this time, the full outstanding amount is still payable and deposits will not be refunded.

Should any objections to any outstanding payment occur upon cancelling, I will proceed with legal action to recover any loss in payment.

Cancellation of the booking by Sophie Matthews, EssexMakeup: 
In the unlikely event that I am unable to attend, I will endeavour to find another professional of equal standard.

Where no other suitable alternative can be offered, a full refund will be given to the client. No further compensation will be offered.

If the booking is directly affected by circumstance beyond my control:
Where possible I will endeavour to rectify such situations however no compensation will be offered on my part. It is strongly advised that you take out wedding insurance to cover you against these situations.

Termination of Contract:

If Sophie Matthews, EssexMakeup is made to feel uncomfortable in any way, or if any of the party, guests, or other vendors display abusive or offensive behaviour, I have the right to terminate the contract without refund. 

Where there is a mismatch in style or approach or the client is not open to professional advice or guidance, I have the right to terminate the contract without refund. 

Extreme Weather Conditions:

In the event of extreme weather conditions, where the Met Office have issued a weather warnings, Sophie Matthews, EssexMakeup has the right to cancel without refund. Taking out wedding insurance is strongly advised if this is a concern.

 

Time Delays:

I will not be held responsible for any delays caused by events beyond my control.

No refund or compensation will be given in the event of delays caused by other wedding vendors, guests, or members of the bridal party. If you suspect any member of the bridal party may pose as a challenge in any way, they are encouraged to have a trial to avoid potential delays on the day.

Please ensure that every member of your bridal party is aware of timings on the day and that they stay available. Prior to having make up applied  please ensure that you and your party avoid leaving the chair whilst I am working, to avoid delays. 

On a wedding day, time is of the essence, please ensure all daily routines are carried out before arrival and face is free from product.

Please do not sit children / babies on your lap whilst having your make up applied. For their own safety please ensure that children are kept away from my products and kit at all times. Some products could be hazardous to small children. I will not be held responsible if a child is injured as a result of the parent or carer not being present and vigilant at all times.
